The 44 cards combine vintage glass plate photos from 1880–1920 with animal paintings by Alexandra Eldridge into surreal compositions that activate the unconscious without pinning the viewer to one meaning. The images show human-animal hybrids from a dreamlike, surreal world – unreal enough to evoke something, recognizable enough to be touching. The 176-page guide by Jungian psychologist Sherry Salman contains stories, symbols, fairy tales, poems, and myths, exploring the meaning of each card from a depth psychological perspective.

The deck was created in the spirit of Darwin's discovery that emotions exist in both humans and animals – an era when concepts like conservation and spirituality first converged.
